October 17, 2023

The Iowa Rural Health Association (IRHA) is excited to hold the 2023 IRHA conference at the Iowa Valley Business and Community Solutions Conference Center in Marshalltown this week on Wednesday, October 18. This year’s conference is the first independently held, in-person IRHA conference since 2019.

The conference will bring together more than 100 rural health advocates throughout the state working in healthcare, public health, non-profit organizations, academia, and many other fields. The one-day conference will include a keynote presentation from Daniel Zinnel, CEO of Proteus, and morning presentations from rural health policy experts and updates from critical access hospital, federally qualified health center, and rural health clinic representatives. The afternoon will include several breakout sessions focused on research/clinical efforts in rural, rural community success stories, workforce, and health equity. The event will also provide an opportunity for IRHA members and attendees to network.

“ Our conference agenda will meet the needs of our diverse membership, stakeholders, partners —and most importantly — can influence care and health for residents in rural Iowa”, says IRHA President, Gloria Vermie. “We’re also very excited to have several college students from universities across the state who will participate.”

IRHA is a non-profit organization established in 1993 to ensure optimal health for all Iowans, particularly those in rural areas. As the voice for rural health in the state, IRHA brings attention to the issues that affect rural health providers and helps address those issues by providing educational opportunities, facilitating information sharing, and engaging in advocacy activities.
